The contemporary ASi Address Programming Device
ASi-5 is the latest development stage of AS-Interface. For this application, we now provide our modern ASi-5/ASi-3 address programming device (BW4925). Just as with our ASi-5/ASi-3 Gateways, we focus on full compatibility. This means: You can use the new addressing device for all ASi-5 as well as for all ASi-3 modules – while maintaining a uniform workflow.
Even if you don’t have ASi-5 modules in use yet, you will still profit from advanced product features: an OLED color display, a bulit-in supercapacitor (for powerful energy storage) and simple PC connection via a standard USB-C connection. It also enables seamless integration into the Bihl+Wiedemann Software Suite.
Count on a powerful combination when commissioning your ASi system: Using the handy ASi-5/ASi-3 address programming device together with the Bihl+Wiedemann Software Suite, you combine the advantages of decentralized (bottom-up) addressing with those of centralized (top-down) planning and parameterization.

Sie können das Handadressiergerät zusammen mit der Bihl+Wiedemann Suite nutzen – ganz einfach, indem sie es über die USB-Schnittstelle an einen PC anschließen. Das heißt, es stehen Ihnen alle gewohnten Tools zur Verfügung, um den am Adressiergerät angeschlossenen ASi Teilnehmer zu parametrieren, zu diagnostizieren und zu testen.

Dank sechs robuster Tasten können Sie das Adressiergerät einfach bedienen. Es bietet zudem einen Standard USB-C-Anschluss zur Energieversorgung und als PC-Schnittstelle. Dies ermöglicht künftig einfache Erweiterungen des Funktionsumfangs durch unsere etablierten Firmware Updates im Feld.
Stets einsatzbereit
Ein moderner Energiespeicher (Superkondensator) bietet eine lange Lebensdauer und ermöglicht ein schnelles Laden bei gleichzeitiger Nutzung. Die Ladezeit für 70 Module beträgt z. B. nur rund 10 Minuten. Dank geringer Selbstentladung ist das Adressiergerät auch nach monatelanger Lagerung noch einsatzbereit.

With AS-Interface, you do not need expensive plugs or sockets and only a single cable. This significantly reduces assembly times and material costs. In addition, valuable resources such as copper or plastic, which are required to manufacture the components, can be saved on a large scale. And energy consumption during cable production is greatly reduced. There is also a positive environmental effect when it comes to disposal – less waste is produced.
How do you use the ASi-5/ASi-3 Address Programming Device optimally?
For easy and safe commissioning of your ASi system, it is recommended to use our intuitive, sophisticated ASIMON360 software in conjunction with the modern ASi-5/ASi-3 address programming device – even if you do not wish to use ASi-5 modules at present. The typical procedure is as follows:
- First plan the network in the hardware configuration section of ASIMON360 or ASi Control Tools360. You can also make all the individual settings for each device separately.
- In the second step, set the ASi addresses (ASi-3) and participant numbers (ASi-5) individually at the respective modules on site using the addressing device. Then you can connect all devices to the ASi Master.
- Finally, start the commissioning wizard. The devices are then all automatically fully configured and receive all other settings that were initially specified in the hardware configuration section.
ASi-5/ASi-3 Address Programming Device and accessories
The ASi-5/ASi-3 Address Programming Device (BW4925) enables you to address various modules of all ASi generations. For this purpose, the most important ASi addressing cables are already included in the delivery.
- Addressing of ASi modules of all specifications
- Color display (RGB OLED)
- Fully charged in approximately 30 min, sufficient for ≥120read/write operations, approximately 10 min of charging time is sufficient to allocate 70 ASi addresses (e. g. AB, single, ASi-5)

ASi-5/ASi-3 addressing cable (BW4731), hollow plug on connecting wires, 1.5 m, with open ends so that a profile cable, for example, can be connected. This also makes it possible to address devices that have neither an addressing socket nor an ASi connection via M12 (included in the scope of delivery).

No, you can also commission all ASi modules using just the Bihl+Wiedemann software suite or directly at the gateway. However, the addressing device may simplify the commissioning of an ASi circuit. It enables you to quickly and easily assign an address to the bus nodes without the need for a real bus structure. Commissioning is then performed automatically by the software, if the ASi bus is connected to the PC software via a gateway.
Yes, you can carry out commissioning without software, using just the ASi-5/ASi-3 address programming device. To do this, simply use the "Store+Run" function on the display of the gateway. However, we still recommend using the ASi-5/ASi-3 address programming device in conjunction with the intuitive software (ASIMON360 or ASi Control Tools360) for easy commissioning.
