How to configure digital I/Os as required and save resources in the process

If you can implement different applications with the same module, you need less modules – and thus (not only) save valuable resources. Since you require less device types, the administrative effort is also enormously reduced. This applies to planning, procurement, expansion, and spare parts management. So take advantage of our self-configuring I/O modules!

Good alternative to Ethernet I/O blocks and IO-Link hubs

We currently offer self-configuring modules with 4, 8, and 16 digital signals, which can be used bidirectionally as inputs or outputs. The modules are a good alternative to comparable Ethernet or IO-Link-based I/O solutions because they save you money on both the module price and the wiring costs. With ASi, you only need a single cable and almost no expensive plugs or sockets. This means that less valuable resources, such as copper or plastic, are required.

The self-configuring I/O modules are available with 16 I/O (BWU4230, BWU4231, BWU3884), with 8 I/O (BWU4232, BWU4233), and with 4 I/O (BWU4727).

The self-configuring I/O modules at a glance

  • Sensors and actuators can be connected in any combination; possibility of 2 signals per M12 connection
  • Optional assignment of a fixed configuration possible for the ASi-5 modules using our software
  • No M12 ports go unused thanks to a fine-grained portfolio ranging from 4 I/Os to 16 I/Os
  • 16 inputs/outputs with ASi-5 in 1.27 ms
  • Cost-effective and fast collection of many inputs and outputs
  • Various connection types – depending on the product variant, the ASi/AUX connection is made via profile cable, M12 connector, or push-in terminal
  • Channel-specific diagnostics: overload can be individually detected for each connection, the status of the set digital outputs can be individually read back within the cyclic data
